I’m baaaack and linking up with Jess at The Newly with some confessions!
— I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt. Like to drive 5 houses down to my parents’ house, to the mailbox, ANYWHERE. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t ALWAYS wear one. There’s a traffic sign on our local highway begging for peeps to wear their seatbelts because it’s the law. How about, because it’s common sense? It also says there were 950 vehicle deaths in SC just last year. Buckle up no matter what, friends. Don’t be a dummy.
–This eyeliner video is hilarious. I’ve SO been there! Who hasn’t, am I right ladies?! Hopefully it works for ya! It is beyond worth the 1 minute of your life.
— Max continues to be VERY into LEGO blocks. Did you know that it is incorrect to call them LEGOS? LEGO is a company and should not be converted into a plural. This is a huge pet peeve of my brother’s that has become a huge pet peeve of mine. Let’s start a movement, people! I guess technically they are bricks and not blocks, but listen – one big change at a time. lol #LEGOBrickS
— While on the topic of LEGO bricks (practice makes perfect!), Max just started doing the cutest thing. Every couple of days, he grabs one of the bigger DUPLO bricks, puts it up to his ear and says, “I can hear the ocean. Can you hear it?” and puts it to one of our ears. OMG. So cute!
— I use an app to keep track of feedings, medicine, baths, and diaper changes for Leo. I’ll eventually use it track sleep, as well. I used it for Max, too; it is a lifesaver! It is called Baby Connect and I highly recommend it. Anyway…I CONFESS that we have gone through 511 diapers in Leo’s 70 days of life (at home). HOLY DIAPERS, BATMAN!
— I watch Ellen just about everyday. (I have already confessed, I watch WAY too much TV!) There was a Cover Girl commercial on and Max said, “Mama, is that Ellen?” Haha – yes, sir, it is!
— I have replaced the waterproof-mascara-from-hell with my usual and life is so much more manageable. AND BONUS: I think I almost got all of that hellacious stuff off. A week later. Suggestion from me to to you, Cover Girl – make the packaging different for different mascaras!!! Many eyelashes depend on this!!!
— Sometimes I look forward to Max’s time outs. He only goes there a few times a week. Now that he is 3 and half, we have bumped the time expectation from 3 to 4 minutes. The rule is that we pay absolutely no attention to him while he’s there. If Leo is sleeping during those 4 minutes, do you know how many things I am able to get done in that time?! It’s glorious! #4minutesoffreedom
— This is SO me.
Also, answering the door when you’re not expecting anyone. No dice.
— This yummy baby. LOVE!!!!!!!
I could go on…but I’ll save some for next Thursday!
Happy Day, friends! :)
Well this is rare.
My babies are native South Carolinians while the hubs and I are Northern transplants. We are proud, on both counts.
I choose not to discuss politics or religion with any seriousness on the blog, because it makes me feel uncomfortable and it’s just not my thang.
However, Saturday’s results are lost on me.
Anyway, Leo has accurately and completely captured my thoughts on the results of Saturday’s Republican Primary…
I believe he is saying, “Pssssshh!”
Leo had to sport his Palmetto pride on Sunday…trying to bring some class back to his home state.
Trump supporters, save it. Leo made this face, not me. And who can be mad at this adorable 10 week old?!
Positives, SC? A record turnout and people exercising their right to vote.
Holy cow, though. I.am.scurrrrrrred.
Just keeping it real.
That is all :)
WEIGHT: Little chunker was 12 pounds 8 ounces at his 2 month appointment this week. That is the 75th percentile, people. MY KID!!! ha! His length was 65th percentile and his head circumference was the 50th! Watch out, Max!
HAIR: Very little-ha!
EYES: Still the steel blue non-color.
CLOTHES: Leo is in all 0-3 month and 3 month clothing. He’s has recently moved up to size 2 diapers. He has definitely chunked up and most of his pants are NOT too long (which is shocking in this family!). We often have to fold his sleeves up just a tad, though. He may join the “no shoulders to hold up clothes” club along with Maxie and me. I want to get his Easter outfit while there are great sales (Max has requested matching outfits <insert a million heart eyes>), but I have no idea what size he’s going to be yet! I suppose I will hold off for now…
EATING: Leo continues to nurse like a pro…still not on a schedule. He usually goes 3-4 hours between feedings during the day. He has slept through the night (10:30-5:30) more than a handful of times which is very exciting (the last nights included)! Typically though, he wakes up once a night between 1:30 and 3:30. I really can’t complain!
SLEEPING: A LOT still, but his awake time is more varied now. He is starting to “play” some while he’s awake (cooing and batting at his toys). He is very interested in toys that are hanging from the top of his playmat. Another strong interest is to be held while he’s awake…A LOT! He is sleeping most often in his swing and rock ‘n play sleeper (in our room). Pretty sure his favorite spot is in Mommy’s arms, though. <3
NICKNAMES: The little one, Leo the Lion, chunker, chunky monkey, Mr. Magoo (because he says “goo” a lot!), junior (as in Scott’s mini), punkin, boo boo bear, love muffin (a few of the same names that we called and still sometimes call Max!). I call him Leo James mostly, though!
FUNNY THINGS/MOMENTS: Leo laughs while he sleeps once or twice a day and it’s ADORABLE! It is a straight up belly chuckle and it is THE BEST!
He is very jumpy! Leo startles at least 10 times a day, often by noises that HE makes (like a noise while he’s nursing or a sneeze). Poor thing – haha.
LEO’S LIKES: Being held, rocking, music, his swing, being nursed, diaper changes (shocking!), being warm, car rides, noise, hearing animal noises (especially a duck and cow, but NOT a horse – ha!), laying on his back on the playmat (briefly), “talking.”
LEO’S DISLIKES: Tummy time, getting buckled in the carseat and waiting for the car to start moving, bright lights when he’s tired, being cold, cold hands, baths, being left alone, getting his nose sucked for boogies.
RANDOM: He’s still undecided about the paci, but we sure keep it handy! I’d say he takes it 50% of the time it’s offered.
Leo’s head support continues to get stronger. I really look forward to being able to put him in my hip because this chunker gives me a sore back some days!
Scott is back to work (BOO!), but remains an AMAZING parent to both of our boys. He doesn’t “help,” he is my partner and 50/50 in this and for that, I am extremely grateful! He gets that while he’s at work, I too am at work. I try to have the state of the house not any worse than when he left for work. It’s been tough, because WE MISS HIM, but we all just cherish our time together even more. The weekends are so fun!!!
Leo continues to smile when he makes solid eye contact with his family members. It melts my heart and helps me to forgive him more quickly for the poop-to-the-shoulder-blades from the moment before. OHHHH, the poop!
Leo still looks like Scott’s mini-me, in my opinion. He is constantly changing, as infants do, so stay tuned.
Seeing Leo and Max together still makes my heart swell. Max is always concerned with Leo’s wellbeing, location, and situation. Max finds Leo hilarious and adorable and has not shown even an inkling of jealousy to this point. Leo is one lucky little brother!!! Leo is starting to look around for his big brother when he hears his voice. So sweet!
That’s it for now! Leo is a healthy little boy who brings nothing but joy to this family. Well and poop…lots of poop!
Until next time! xoxo
I’ve been wanting to write a weekly post, including all the randomness that life offers. Jess over at The Newly has recently started a link up and I am SO in! I’ve been following Jess’s blog since 2011/2012ish. She has 2 beautiful children and has done a much better job keeping up with her blog while juggling life than I. Total mom crush ;)
So bear with me peeps, as I am a link up virgin. Who knows if I’m even going to do this right.
Without further ado, Confessional Thursday…
— I mistakenly ordered the wrong mascara online. Total fail. If you want mascara to stay on forever-until-the-end-of-time-Amen, order this stuff…
I always get waterproof mascara, but this stuff is no joke.
Don’t mind me. I’ll be in the bathroom repeatedly rubbing my brittle eyelashes with loads of eye makeup remover until my vision goes blurry. #thepriceofbeauty
— This shirt. Is hilarious. And so me (in the summertime). Want. HA!
— I have an internal struggle going on with Christmas cards…since, like, the year 2005. Y’all, what do you do with yours? Keep ’em from year to year (resulting in the need to rent a storage unit) or throw them out? Does it depend? I feel so guilty throwing them away but cannot.take.the.clutter lately. HELP! <Small townhouse and family of 4 problems.>
— We watch WAY too much TV in this house and I am not upset about it. When I turn it off for the occasional dance party or quiet time, I miss it. There, I said it.
— In related news, I’ve been reading this book (a page at at time, ahem) since December.
Get it together, Trottier. I like it and am into it. I just suck at taking the time to relax and read.
— This weather forecast makes me do a happy dance!
We have some fun plans this weekend…and I may even convince Scott that we need a walk on the beach on Sunday!
— We just ordered a locally and custom-made farmhouse table and we could not be more excited. Our current table is from our first apartment circa the year 2006 or so from…wait for it…K-Mart. It’s a high top table that we are so over. It’s time for our “family table.”
Now we’re on the hunt for the perfect chairs, that don’t break the bank (yikes-they’re expensive!). We’re looking for the tufted style. Suggestions? Target is always our go-to ;)
— Fitting into my pre-pregnancy jeans got me like…
The muffin top it creates got me like…
OMG-that was too much fun! Can’t wait to do this weekly!!!
Check back tomorrow for Leo’s 2 mo update. Promise! It’s already written (and spoiler alert: 75th percentile for weight!)!
Max-a-doodle-doo was 3 and half on January 30th. CANNOT BELIEVE we’re a half a year to another birthday. His 4th! Crazytown! I want to document who is he right now, because the boy is changing so quickly!
MAX JOSEPH AT 3 AND A HALF
LOVES…Racing cars and trucks (always!), Jake and the Neverland Pirates, books & the library, the singer Cam-particularly “Burning House” and “Mayday,” the beach (AMEN!), running, pink & purple, YouTube videos with cars, trucks, PlayDoh & baking (lol), Oreos, Hershey Bars, mint chocolate chip ice cream, your family, baby brother “Weo James,” other kids (especially his “buddy, E-fin”), kissing his brother on the forehead, helping Daddy cook, helping Mommy do laundry, Lego blocks all-day-errrr-day, his big boy bed (it’s nicer than ours!), Movie Nights (movie, popcorn, fireplace, and candle), playing soccer, pooping on the potty (hello, 3 times a day, on average!)
FAVORITE TOYS…Cars and trucks, car tracks, puzzles, Lego blocks(!!!), books, Alphabots, anything that resembles a sword or telescope, gears, PlayDoh
FAVORITE BOOKS…Various but he loves anything with monsters, space, or cars/trucks in them and also loves “I Spy” type books
FAVORITE TV SHOWS…Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Octonauts, Curious George, Sheriff Callie, Justin Time…I could go on for days. Homeboy loves his TV shows. –>Mother of the Year over here<–
FAVORITE MOVIES…Inside Out, Wall-E, & Frozen (I LOVE these 3), Cars (eh), Madagascar movies (bleh)
FAVORITE ANIMALS…Turtles and any ocean animal. Loves the idea of all animals but is very aware that he is allergic to cats and dogs, so he likes them from afar
DISLIKES…When I ask him to go pee, trying new foods…STILL!!!, long car rides, getting a hair cut, napping (as in, hasn’t happened in 6 months!), slides and swings, cooperating while on Skype/Facetime and talking on the phone, getting his picture taken!!!
KNOWLEDGE…He still use the longest and most complex sentences with quite the vocabulary bank, he has an awesome sense of humor (and understands some awesome humor as well!), counts to 26, identifies uppercase and lowercase letters and tells what sound they make, IDs shapes and numbers 1-10, is working on writing letters and numbers, has gotten pretty good at cutting but still needs supervision, IDs many states on a map, recalls so much information, knows more song lyrics than I, understands how babies work (“Mama-he’s either hungry, wants to be held, needs a new diaper, or has a bellyache. That’s it!”)…the list goes on! He continues to be a smart, smart cookie!
STILL WORKING ON…Holding a writing utensil correctly, drinking from an open cup, successfully wearing underwear to bed without accidents
PERSONALITY…Extremely friendly with adults and kids, polite for a 3 year old, observant, inquisitive, kind and caring, silly, loving, shy around strangers
FAVORITE SAYINGS/ADORABLE QUOTES…
“I can’t calm down!”
“Speaking of cheese…” – ha!
“It’s a happy day!”
“I don’t fink” for “I don’t think”
“Member?” for “Remember?”
“Where is baby brother?”
“Can you tell me the choices?” – when it comes to food, shows, movies, games, etc.
“I need help”
“Can you way with me for a witto bit?” instead of “Can you lay with me for a little bit” – EVERY night!
“I don’t wanna go pee pee!”
“OH – I need to POOP!”
“Ooo-Faaa!” when something is shocking…something that Papa says
“Leave the way” instead of “Lead the way”
“Pecause” instead of “Because”
“I don’t want my food to get foggy” instead of “soggy”
“I bless you’d” – when he sneezes
“Just trust me!”
Me – “Max, what’s a beard?” Max – “A drink for Daddys!”
Leo was wailing. “Leo, cry if you love me. pause He loves me!”
Max – You still make us laugh constantly. You are so protective of your brother and have not shown one lick of jealousy since he has joined our family. A few times, you have even mentioned Mama having another baby. HA! SEE THAT! TOLD YOU YOU WERE FUNNY! You are still a little peanut. You have no hips or hiney, just like your Daddy (sorry, Scott!), so you still struggle to keep up pants that are sized 2t. Shirts are 4t, so you are definitely growing taller. We try and try and try to “get your number up,” but you still haven’t hit 30 pounds. PEANUT! Leo may beat you to it, little man! You surprise us with your imagination, thoughts, and ideas everyday! You have such a zest for life and are always on the go. At the same time, you love lazy, at home days just like your Mama. Your hugs and kisses are still the best, even though you wipe off every single kiss. You have shown such resilience with becoming a big brother. It’s been amazing to watch your heart immediately grow along with ours. What an awesome big brother! You are special, big one. I LOVE YOU! xoxo
