Baby T #2 {15+ Weeks}

On June 28, 2015 by Sarah

First of all, I owe you all a HUGE thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the support I received in regards to my post about our pregnancy struggles.  As always, it is a difficult subject but one that I feel very passionate about discussing.  All of your messages on the blog, Facebook, and Instagram were so amazingly supportive and BRAVE.  So many of you shared your personal pregnancy stories.  That made my heart so happy.  None of us are alone.

It was a tough week here in Charleston.  I was glued to CNN and didn’t leave the house for 2 straight days.  At the end of the day, 9 people’s lives were mercilessly taken and I couldn’t be more proud of the response from this city and our community.  I love where I live and have not stopped praying for the families of those lost, especially my colleague, Sharonda Singleton.

*Week 15+*

Percentage Cooked: 38%

Baby Size: The size of an apple

Countdown to Baby: 24.5 weeks

Symptoms: Sciatic back pain (it has gotten a bit better), a growing and itchy belly, and I still need to get up from sitting/laying slowly due to round ligament pain.  Overall, I feel pretty great!

Cravings/Aversions: Fruit (mostly oranges and mangos), Trader Joe’s GF bagels, Sweet Tea, and La Croix Sparkling Water.  I’ve backed off of the GF Oreos, Nutella, and pickles.  Nothing new.

Weight Gain: 5 lbs. as of Tuesday’s appointment.  Oops.  Time to back it up on the bagels, no?  Starting tomorrow, of course!  Oh well.  I am feeling pretty good and still fitting in most of my regular clothes comfortably.  I have started to use the rubber band trick on some of my shorts.  Like I said, I have already started wearing some maternity clothes (mostly tops) for fun!

What I’m Missing:  Consistent/comfortable sleep.  A flat stomach.  Ha!  I better get used to that one for a while!

Sleep: I get up 1-2 times per night for a bathroom break.  Most nights there is a lot of tossing and turning.  I have a great night of sleep here and there.  I’ll take it!  Naps are rarely occurring (that goes for me AND Max, unfortunately!).

Related Purchases: Compression stockings for our upcoming NY trip.  SO EXCITING!  haha

Nursery: Nada

Fear of the Week: Getting through 2 days of driving to NY TWICE in the next couple of weeks.  Oy!  Max is a couple of months potty trained (WOOHOO!), but I am still concerned about the 9 hours in the car each day.  Who wouldn’t be?!  And maybe MY peeing and back pain could be situations, as well.

Also, waiting more than 3 weeks for another appointment.

Relief of the Week: We had an appointment last week and got to hear baby’s heartbeat.  Strong at 152.  SO relieved!  No ultrasound, but the baby was apparently very active/flipping even when the Dr. was trying to secure the heartbeat.  {Swoon!}  The next appointment will be the big anatomy scan where we will learn of baby’s health, umbilical cord status, and GENDER!  You know me and dates…this appointment happens to fall on the 6 year anniversary of the first time we laid eyes on Charleston (and fell in lurve!).

– The chiropractor appts. have been minimally helpful.  Little disappointed.  I was given a few exercise ideas and such so, we’ll see.  My OBGYN really feels that it is just going to take time because of all of the stretching going on, putting pressure on my nerves.

– I’m having a not-feeling-very-pregnant week and it makes me very nervous.  I am beyond the extremely nauseous and tired stage but not yet feeling those sweet movements yet.  Hopefully, I will feel this bambino a bit earlier than I did the first time around (which they say is common in second pregnancies and beyond).  I had to wait until around the 21 week mark last time!

– I am still extremely paranoid about this pregnancy, due to complications at the beginning.  I will get into those details soon.

Scott’s Quote of the Week: When I told Scott that I gained 4 pounds in 3+ weeks…

Scott: “Trying to beat your record from last time around?!”

Not funny, Trottier.  Not funny.

Scott: “There’s some pasta for you out there.  It’s not much, but I figure you’ll have that and about 5 snacks.”

Max’s Quote of the Week:

Max: “I’m going to help change the baby’s diapers and wipe his heinie.”

The next update will be from NY!  xoxo
