Hospital Fashion

20 Jun

So, I’m going to order a cute hospital gown.

I know.  I’m a little crazy.

I figure, I know that we’ll look at pictures from the day of Baby T.’s birth for a really long time (like forever) and that the rest of me is going to be a hot mess (what do you do with curly delivery hair?!)…so why not control my attire?  I’ve been agonizing over which one to choose.  Forgive me – I’m dramatic.  Help me decide (all from Gownies)!

I’m partial to the blue one, but I wear a lot of blue.  Also, Pam from The Office wore it which is kinda cool (although I never got into The Office).  Check it out!

And just for fun, I found the famous clip from Friends of Rachel giving birth to Emma.  Awwww!  I couldn’t embed the dang video though, but here’s the link if you’re interested!  =)

So which one do you like best?  Let’s vote on it!

Which gownie should I wear while Baby T. comes into the world?

Now hurry up and vote – I need to order it ASAP!

Thanks!

p.s. I have the hospital bag out, ready to be packed.  So far, it has my extra phone charger and paper napkins & plates in it (because clearly I’ll be bringing freshly made, homemade chocolate chip cookies for doctors/nurses/visitors…duh).  I need to get more into this bag!

Make sure to pack hair ties and chapstick! I brought a little notebook to keep track of everything along the way. It was fun to look back at when/what was happening leading up to delivery :) and it was handy for logging babys feeds too. I also went to target and bought out their “travel size” section. Perfect for the short hospital stay! If you need other suggestions lmk…it’s so easy to over-do it! Happy packing!! :)

Thanks, Jenna! You are so comfortable and at ease in the hospital setting – I wish I could say the same for myself!!! Hair ties and chapstick are musts in my everyday life – so I won’t forget those. Everyday I add something else to that bag, so I’m getting there! =)

Take everything you can home from the hospital! Especially the sexy mesh undies. Oh, and the nasal aspirator for the baby. Both were lifesavers. Ha, sad but true!

I have heard that about the nasal aspirator – all around. Haha – thanks for the advice!!!

That list might help you out. It definitely lists things that I would have never thought of!

    Here was my packing list:

    -Birth plan and health proxy
-The relaxation aroma therapy stuff you put behind your ear
-A book, sudokus, or something to occupy yourself when you’re not nursing or zonked out
    -Pen
    -Chargers for electronics
    -Phone numbers
-Overnight sized pads – smaller than the hospital “diapers” but still enough to be safe
    -Breast pads and lanolin
-Undies, with a comfortable waistband (the ones that were COMFORTABLE when preg., not just still fitting)
-Nursing tank tops and pajama pants
-Going home outfit for mom (lounge pants and larger shirt)
-Loose shoes to go home (my feet were sooooo swollen first time I couldn’t even wear flip-flops)
    -Shower shoes
-Going home outfit for little one
-Clothes for little one (optional – if you don’t want them in a t shirt that is 5 times too big when visitors come to see them)
-Toiletries (hair elastics!!, toothpaste, toothbrush, my soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair gunk…
    -Big, fluffy socks or slippers
-Camera w/ empty memory card and plenty of battery life
-A stuffed animal from each my husband and I, as our first gifts to the baby (obv. a personal choice)
-Scrapbook or baby book page with place for hand and foot prints

When I was induced for Amanda I also brought playing cards for while we were waiting, and snacks for Greg, but hopefully you wont need to do that

PS I tend to error on the side of overpacking

Woah, Shayna – that list is intense! I’ve got about 25% of that covered so far. I’ve got work to do!

I looked pretty beat in my pictures with Anne at the hospital. Super puffy in the face from bloating, and really bad hair. I bet you’ll look just as pretty as usual! Gown is a cute idea. Molly is right – take everything you can from the hospital. The nasal aspirator is the best one you can get! I didn’t take much to the hospital, but I remember getting socks with treads – which was good as I had to walk the halls for a while in labor and they were great. Overall, the time in the hospital after she was born was fantastic.

Yeah – my hair is going to be terrible. Bed head is not a curly-haired girl’s friend! I need to look for socks with treads, that’s a great idea!

This post made me laugh! I never would have considered picking out a hospital gown. You are going to look fabulous when you give birth for sure. Blue is my fave too and the polka dots are too cute :)

Thanks! Our Dr was like, “yeah, I wouldn’t wear anything pretty for the birth,” but if it makes me feel even 1% better – I think it’ll be worth it!
