I Have to Pee Like a Mother

*Week 30!*
Look at that poor Rudolph nose =/
CURRENT STATS
Percentage Cooked: 75%
Baby Size: 3 pounds, 3 ounces says today’s ultrasound measurement…GROW BABY, GROW! Baby’s in the 40th percentile for growth, less than a week behind absolute “average.” We are THRILLED! That SUA ain’t stopping Baby T.!
Countdown to Baby: 10 weeks (211 days down, 69 to go!)
Symptoms: I have created quite the setup in order to sleep comfortably. As much as I’ve wanted to buy one of these since the first trimester…
…I couldn’t spend the 70 bucks. Seriously with her whole body pjs? I’d be sweating my face off! Instead, I use a bolster pillow (one of those pillows that looks like a tootsie roll) to hug up top and put a full pillow between my legs. That makes a 4-pillow commitment with the 2 behind/under my head. It is NOT fun to re-situate this arrangement after I pee (5 times) in the middle of the night!
My veins are bigger, bluer, and more noticeable! Apparently your heart pumps 30-50% more blood than normal when you’re pregnant!
My Braxton Hicks have gotten stronger (OR the ones that I thought were Braxton Hicks before, definitely were not!). No Scott, Toni Braxton and Taylor Hicks did not get married! Baby hurts me now sometimes. And so it begins, right?!
I skinned my finger with a fork while putting it in the dishwasher. No blood, just a scratch. Scott says I should live in a bubble. Agreed.
Cravings: Oreos and ice cold beverages
Weight Gain: Official update as of today: 22 lbs. (up 2 pounds in 3 weeks – I’ll take it!)
Related Purchases: For the nursery – lamp shades, a trial curtain (we think we like it, so we need to get another!), 3 red fabric totes for the cube organizer (still figuring out what other color we’re going to go with for the other 3).
For our room – blinds for the windows…FINALLY!
Lovely and thoughtful gifts continue to find us (or our neighbors – ha)…everything we have gotten has been put together!
Fear of the Week: Our trip to New York.
Relief of the Week: 3 MORE DAYS OF WORK UNTIL SUMMER BREAK!!!
Randomness: I was sick ALL weekend with a wicked cold. I’m completing solid day #4 and am getting very frustrated. I stayed home from work to give Baby and I one more day to get our act together. FYI: Pregnant women should be exempt from getting sick. It’s just cruel – we have enough going on!
I can’t wait to see my bestest friends and family in NY in just ONE week!
Easy tasks (like reaching for my purse on the floor in the car) are no longer easy. I have to bend around this belly to get anywhere. Ridic!
We have our maternity photo shoot this weekend downtown – SO excited!
Scott’s Quote of the Week: Me: “We should probably get a preemie outfit or two, just in case Baby comes early.”
Scott: “Well if the Baby comes early, can’t someone just run out to the store and get the clothes?”
Me: “Well yes, I suppose, but I’d rather be prepared.”
Scott: “So while we shop for preemie clothes, can we get me a just-in-case-I-get-fat wardrobe? Ya know, just to be prepared.”
Me: [insert annoyed look and no words]
I hope everyone had a better long weekend than I did (buried in tissues)!
xoxo
p.s. A possible 4 inches of rain was predicted to fall today from what’s left of Tropical Storm Beryl. So far…maybe half an inch? We were lucky – thanks for everyone’s concern!

Two weekends ago, Scott and I unplugged from the world and had a Babymoon Staycation. Ahhh – it was amazing! We only have about 9 more weekends alone (fingers crossed) until this baby comes. It was both worth it and necessary.
Here were the rules – NO PHONE, NO COMPUTER/IPAD, NO TV (except for one show/movie at night for sleeping’s sake), and NO CHEATING!
We took like 1 picture and a couple of sad lookin’ videos, so we don’t have much to show for it. [What?! We were staycationing!] But, it really was the best! I’ve since proposed that Scott and I do this once a month…seriously.
For real, it was freeing. I absolutely recommend giving it a try!
This was our weekend…
FRIDAY
- Dinner downtown at Cypress! This place has been on our list for a long, long time (our Charleston restaurant list is long and strong). My brother gave us a gift certificate there for Christmas (ahem-in May-cough), so we were thrilled to finally get there. It was gorgeous inside, we had an amazing waiter, and the food made us do that this-food-is-so-good-I’m-going-to-dance-a-little-in-my-chair thing. We took a stroll to the upstairs bar afterwards. We’ll definitely go back there for their happy hour menu!
Yes, I have sweeeet video skills!
- Rooftop at Market Pavilion Hotel Bar. We’ve never been disappointed with the views, the breeze, or the cool atmosphere up there. They have these awesome new heaters that I was obsessed with. A couple more weeks and the plexiglass will be down for an even better view. (You can’t really see anything in the following video but some dark coolness. You’re welcome.)
SATURDAY
- A stroll around Freshfields Village in Kiawah Island and then some beach time at Beachwalker Park on Kiawah.
The 2nd video shows the pretty trees better =)
- Home to freshen up and then downtown for dinner at Basil, one of our favorite Charleston restaurants. YUM!
SUNDAY
- It was Mother’s Day – so we of course broke the rules to see my Mom! Scott and my Dad cooked us breakfast. Scott gave me a new Pandora charm and a sweet card. I didn’t feel like it was my first Mother’s Day really – it felt more like my Mother’s Day half-birthday. I need to earn that title!!! Oh – and Scott got me a grande decaf mocha cookie crumble light Frappuccino. Yum! (It was my 4th of the week, due to the awesome Happy Hour deal!)
- We spent some time at the pool.
- We put together a gazillion baby items that were lined up in boxes by the front door.
- I don’t remember the rest.
Overall, we did nothing extravagant or over the top. We just enjoyed our “alone time” and realized how important and EASY it truly is to unplug. It was SO.RELAXING.
And guess what? When we plugged back in, we realized that we didn’t miss much AND no one really missed us!
I love you, Scott Michael Trottier! This weekend was one that I will hold onto for a very long time!
XOXO

*Week 29*
Ugh, I look tired!!!
For perspective, check out this belly when I got my hair done 8 weeks ago! →
Wowzers, that belly has doubled in 8 weeks – no?!
CURRENT STATS
Percentage Cooked: 73%
Baby Size: 2.5 pounds and about 15 inches long (about 3 inches from baby’s final length!)
Countdown to Baby: Less than 11 weeks (206 days down, 74 to go!)
Symptoms: The clumsiness continues…
I dropped my corn on the cob on the floor mid-bite.
I’ve almost fallen (again) a handful of other times.
I’ve hit my “funny bone” a gazillion times. NOT.FUNNY.
I almost fainted at the pool (scary).
My gums bleed every night when I brush my teeth (not any other time of day, for some reason).
I almost ripped off my finger nail while pulling coaxing willing pleading up my pants (trust me, it’s quite the process to get them in place these days!).
A mess – a HOT HOT mess!
Cravings: Oreos still, but Scott got me these to switch it up…

Apparently he’s a-okay with my thunder thighs – go team!
Weight Gain: My guess is 23 lbs. - I’ll report an official update from my Dr.’s appt. next week
Related Purchases: My second attempt at shower dress for NY (DONE!) and a shirt for a our maternity photo shoot next weekend…I think that’s it!
Fear of the Week: Our upcoming ultrasound and our trip to New York…no change.
Relief of the Week: 5 MORE DAYS OF WORK UNTIL SUMMER BREAK
Randomness: Also, baby has yet again changed his/her movement pattern. He/she is much more active in the morning and during the day than at night. It’s driving me nutty because we don’t get our family bonding time at night!
My southern shower was A.MAZ.ING. I am so lucky to have such wonderful friends in 2 different states (and my parents celebrating us in BOTH). A post on this to come! Here’s a picture of Baby and me to hold you over…
Scott’s Quote of the Week: I’ve got nothin’. Pregnancy brain in full effect. What’s my name again?
Happy long weekend, everyone (hopefully you get one, too)!
Happy Memorial Day…THANK YOU to all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice!
xoxo
p.s. YES, friends – that is an ISLAND in our kitchen in the background!!!

Scott and I have been obsessed with Zac Brown Band ever since he bought their 2nd CD for me for my last birthday. We’ve since bought their 1st CD and songs from both albums are staples on both of our iPods. We’re not sick of them yet – at.all.
Last year, ZBB came to Daniel Island (4 miles from our house) for their very first Southern Ground Music and Food Festival at Blackbaud Stadium. We missed it for our first trip to Asheville (no regrets!!!), but we vowed not to miss it this year if it returned. Well folks, it’s returning…and in a BIG way!
“What’s so big about it?” you ask. Well nothing other than the fact that it lands on MY 30TH BIRTHDAY!!! Yes, folks – 2012 is an enormous year for this lady! We’re waiting to get tickets, since right now they are only selling the 2-day ticket option. But we are all over the 1-day pass for October 20th. WHO’S COMING WITH US?! Get you some tickets!
I CANNOT WAIT.
Did I mention that this very concert was voted the Best Music Concert of 2011 in Charleston by Charleston City Paper readers? Well, I just did AND it was.
Question is – will the little nugget come with (for some of the time, at least)? We’ll have to see!
I leave you with one of my fav ZBB songs…just because!
“Keep Me In Mind” – 2012 ACMs
9 more days of work until summa summa summa tiiiiiime!!!
xoxo
p.s. No worries – Tropical Storm Alberto isn’t expected to make a big impact ’round these parts. Cross your fingers for little beach corrosion.

CURRENT STATS
Percentage Cooked: 70%
Baby Size: More than a foot long and over 2 pounds!
Countdown to Baby: Less than 12 weeks (199 days down, 81 to go!)
Symptoms: Girlfriend is clum-zzzzy. I almost fell about 10 times this weekend until I finally cut up my big toe almost falling. The pain in this big toe has been unmatched. The fuss that this “injury” has created only confirms that I am going to suck at childbirth. suck. suck. suck.
I’ve been getting shin cramps in the middle of the night. I know…I need to drink more water. But then I wake up because I have to pee 3 times. Lose – lose, people!
My feet are throbbing by 5pm. My ankles are slowly making their progression into cankles.
via here (I need to learn how photoshop!)
All in all, I am slowing down.
Cravings: Sarah + Double Stuf Oreos = best friends forever
Weight Gain: 20 lbs. confirmed at my 27 week appointment! So…approximately…MORE than that!

Why thank you, Adam Levine!
Related Purchases: A scrapbook and a photo album (with projects to come) and a shower dress that didn’t work out
Fear of the Week: Our upcoming ultrasound and our trip to New York
Relief of the Week: I’m officially in the THIRD TRIMESTER – yippee!
Randomness: Gifts continue to come. We are SO blessed! We’ve put everything together that we have received. I love having all of the baby stuff around the house ♥
Acquaintances and strangers are so sweet. Everyone is interested in my due date, the gender of the baby, and how I’m feeling. AND they tell me I look so cute. Thanks, peeps!!!
We took an Infant CPR class on Monday. I kept hitting our mini-baby’s head on the table. Oops.
Scott’s Quote of the Week: The mosquitos are BRUTAL right now. Our area is going to be sprayed to get to rid of those suckers (pun intended) this weekend…via aircraft. Craziness, I know!
Sarah – “That’s great that they’re spraying for mosquitos this weekend, but I wonder how healthy that’s going to be for the baby.” Scott – ”It’ll be fine. You don’t spend that much time outside, anyway. How is it going to be for my BEER is the more important question.” Scott’s brewing up a batch on Saturday. It always comes back to the beer, doesn’t it Trottier?!
Life has been so busy – thank you for sticking around and still caring about this little ol’ blog.
Love you all – xoxo!

GET TO STARBUCKS ASAP for their Frappuccio Happy Hour!!! Get a half price Frappe between 3:00pm and 5:00pm and your taste buds will thank you. This ends on May 15th, so hurry in and take advantage.
My Frappe count? 2 so far! I have a date with a friend and her 3-week old on Friday. His fav flavor is the newest Mocha Cookie Crumble…good taste
Enjoy. You can thank me later!
What’s your favorite Frappuccio flavor?
I switch it up during Happy Hour, but it’s usually Caramel!

Okay, maybe I should’ve emptied out the crib for the full effect (but there will be better pictures once we put more pieces together). I present to you – BABY T.’s CRIB!!!
Pre-dresser, obviously. We LOVE it!
We walk into the nursery often, just because we miss it. There’s a calm that comes over me in that room that I can’t even explain. ♥
Hope everyone had an awesome weekend!

Check it out…
Bottles is a newish (6 months old, maybe?), locally owned wine, beer, and liquor store in Mount Pleasant. Read the hub’s Bottles review by clicking here.
ANYWAY…they put a full-page ad in last week’s Charleston City Paper, during Charleston’s Craft Beer Week.
Take a look →
Wait, a little closer! →
CLOSER even! →
“I instantly fell in love with the place…the store is huge and the selection is huge! Cheers to that!”
- CHARLESTONCRAFTBEER.BLOGSPOT (they forgot the “dot com” – duh)
“What ‘beer expert’ said that?” you ask? My handsome husband, of course!
A local beer expert. Charleston is lucky to have him!
Congrats, babe – me and baby are proud!!!
Happy [expletive] Friday – I CANNOT wait to catch up on some sleep!!!
p.s. We went to Hank’s for appetizers and Hall’s for dinner last night (for Mom’s birthday). No pics, but thoughts definitely to come!!!

Don’t mind me or my awesome style choices over the years. This isn’t about me, people! Focus on Mom…and our many hair changes.
HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY, MOM! WE LOVE YOU!!!
A few things I noticed…
1. Dad likes yellow shirts (it’s okay – you look good in ‘em, Dad!)
2. This was really only a slideshow of the last 30 years/half of Mom’s life
3. I miss my waist
Seriously, 60 years old? It can’t be true!
CAN’T WAIT TO CELEBRATE DOWNTOWN TONIGHT! XOXO
