Last Thursday, the 4some checked out our very first Charleston RiverDogs minor league baseball game at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park (better known as “The Joe”). They’re a class A team affiliated with the New York Yankees. It just happened to be dollar beer night. I promise…sheer and utter coincidence. The luck! (Is anyone believing me?!)
We paid $8 each for tickets (the cheapest $6 seats were already sold out). If you buy the tickets in advance, you get $1 off the ticket price. We weren’t totally committed to going in advance (it was weather pending), so the extra dollar was no biggie. There are more expensive/better seats than what we bought. Our seats were between the home plate and 1st base…aka – the Watch Your Noggin Compulsively section (at least for me!).
The dollar beer was Busch Light – but, we weren’t complaining. It was a dollar and it was HOT out! At first, we thought we could only get them at the upstairs bar with the DJ, creepers, and bologna sliders (ew). After finding our seats and consuming our first beer, we luckily found another location closer to our seats for our next drinky poo. We all reloaded and got some stadium food – dogs for everyone but Scott. He was in a nacho mood [insert “nacho cheese” joke here].
We only stayed until the bottom of the 4th inning. The 2nd inning was verrrryyy long exciting. The RiverDogs scored 8 runs during that inning! We found out later that they won the game.
The game was all we had expected it to be. We’d go again. NOT for bologna sliders though – gross (no we did NOT try them)!
Here are some highlights from the game…
They played a clip of the “Bring it on Down to Liquorville” Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga SNL skit – this made me laugh hysterically (Haven’t seen it? Check it out!)
Something else that made me laugh like a middle schooler? This t-shirt! Click to make it larger if need be so you don’t miss out!
None of us were brave enough to try the hot dog featured on Man vs. Food – “The Homewrecker.” It was voted one of the “Top 10 Minor League Ballpark Foods” according to Sports Illustrated. Check out part of the episode with Adam Richman from Man vs. Food…
