Never Google “little piggy went to the market” – it is BAD news.
Mom, Dad, Scott, and I (we need a collective name – ideas?!) went to downtown Charleston this morning for the weekly Farmers Market at Marion Square. It was my and Scott’s second time (remember?), but my parents’ first. With friends coming from NY for the long weekend (YAY!), we had some yumminess to gather for the 4th festivities. Also, I was looking forward to my parents seeing just how impressive the market is. They were impressed! Let me jog your memory on what this event looks like…
This is maybe a fifth of the entire market’s size!
Look at our fresh and delicious finds…
Corn and potatoes for Monday’s lowcountry boil
Pickled “halves” (half cucumber, half pickle – basically half done), pickled okra, and a surprise chili pepper that was thrown in (happened last time, too. anyone know why?)
Peaches for pie!
These beautiful wildflowers, grown right on Wadmalaw Island by an adorable couple (we almost killed these beauties with our emergency Chick fil-A stop. what? it had been a whole month!)
I’m a big local fruits and veggies fan – supporting local business while getting the freshest of produce? Win, win!
p.s. We have 14 things planned with our first time guests tomorrow (okay, I exaggerate a little). Anything YOU think newbies CANNOT miss?!
p.s.s. This will be our first 4th of July experience in Charleston – where should we go?!?!?!?!
p.s.s.s. This was Scott on the way home – such an enthusiastic little piggy!
