A few months back we took a trip to the South Carolina Aquarium located right in downtown Charleston. We awesomely got in for free (because of our jobs) and took advantage of this perk on a unusually rainy Chucktown day.
Truth be told, it’s no Boston Aquarium. But it was definitely worth checking out. Their 2-story, 385,000 gallon tank in the center of the place was my favorite part. My favorite swimmers? The loggerhead sea turtles. So amazing! They put on a show (I think it’s hourly)…mostly geared toward kids…about fish and aquarium facts and stats. They have a great gift shop that I briefly perused and a 4D theater that we haven’t checked out yet. Here are some pics from our trip there. Notice: the back of the aquarium is a prime spot for photos of our awesome bridge!
A couple of weeks later, I went again with Carrianne and Baileigh (a friend and her daughter from Scotland). Baileigh was just shy of 3 at the time and I think she was a fan. Just look at that face (on a bench at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park)!
On a completely wrong and twisted note, look at the fish we caught at the lake yesterday! Can you sense my fear or what?!
No worries, we threw them back.
Scott said I fish like Elaine from Seinfeld dances — a little frantic. Oh well…least I caught one!
p.s. Hi to the Mattes in Scotland…we miss you!
p.s.s. Both times I went to the aquarium, the featured exhibit was an albino alligator. Ew! Seriously though, it was in the same position both times I went. Real or really stuffed?!
